Most of the time, when I look at these beaten down breakers in the Chicago River, I find them to be pretty decrepit. On this particular day in October, something about the sunrise and color of the water struck me as amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the toxic river so lit up.
I took this photo with my dad’s old / my new Nikon FE. I’ve been shooting with simple Kodak Ultramax 400. In the next few months, I’m going to shoot strictly in black & white, and I will also be developing my own film. Should be a fun hobby, and I hope it will save me some money versus my typical runs to Walgreen’s. Of course, I won’t be able to see colors like this when I make the switch to B&W.
