I have definitely been in Millenium Park at night before. For some reason, on this November weekend, the security was thick and told me to move along. Apparently, you’re not welcome in the park after 11PM. Wonder how they decide when to enforce this rule?

The Walkmen kicked off their three night stand in Chicago last Wednesday night. They played a 20th anniversary show at Schuba’s, with White Rabbits opening up the evening.

Most of the time, when I look at these beaten down breakers in the Chicago River, I find them to be pretty decrepit. On this particular day in October, something about the sunrise and color of the water struck me as amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the toxic river so lit up.

I took this photo with my dad’s old / my new Nikon FE. I’ve been shooting with simple Kodak Ultramax 400. In the next few months, I’m going to shoot strictly in black & white, and I will also be developing my own film. Should be a fun hobby, and I hope it will save me some money versus my typical runs to Walgreen’s. Of course, I won’t be able to see colors like this when I make the switch to B&W.

For some reason I thought this would be a good picture to post as I wrap up my final full weekend in Chicago of 2009 and start hopping on planes and into cars for several weeks in a row. Actually, I won’t be back in Chicago for a full weekend until January 23rd. A stretch this long hasn’t happened since I moved to Chicago – over 5 years ago. I will be in the city for one or two more Fridays in 2009, but this stretch of weekends will be spent in Northwestern Illinois, Florida, Indianapolis, Kansas, Durham and Las Vegas. Quite the exotic winter destinations, huh? Hopefully I will remember to pack my camera.

Chicago Fire play Real Salt Lake tomorrow night in the Eastern Conference Finals. Should be a good time down in Bridgeview. Let’s hope the weather holds out for the tailgating. If the weather is nice, I should have a good time with my camera.
