Monday, November 23rd - Extra Convenience

Am I missing a larger theme this advertisement is attempting to hammer home? I don’t understand why milk cartons symbolize convenience.

Monday, November 23rd - Cutting Edge Massport IT

I traveled to Boston a few weeks ago, and I had to walk between terminals. I think I landed in Terminal E, and I had to walk over to Terminal C. The walk took me down a long, deserted corridor, which felt a bit like the setting for a scary movie. There were hardly any signs or markings on the walls, until I rounded the last corner.

I saw the Massport Information Technology office, which definitely intrigued me. This hallway didn’t exactly seem like a hotbed of cutting edge IT power.

Friday, November 20th - Wide Angle Fall Foliage

Foliage

A few weekends ago, I shot with a Canon 14mm 2.8L lens. I’ve never shot with anything nearly that wide, and it was quite a shock / change / difference. Part of me liked it. Part of me hated it. I walked around town for nearly 4 hours, and I feel like I missed a lot of great shots because I was way too wide. I also feel like I had a unique perspective on what I could achieve, and it made me think about my shots a lot more. These photos are nothing spectacular at all, but I liked the ability to grab a lot of leaves and a lot of color in one frame.

Given the appearance of most older L stops… I wonder if these even work – or how long they will work.

Thursday, November 19th - Steel Roots

Steel Roots

Steel Roots is an exhibit by Steve Tobin, which will be coming to the Morton Arboretum in April 2010.

The majestic fine-art exhibition, Steelroots: Tobin at The Morton Arboretum, will open on April 9, 2010!

From April 9, 2010 to January 11, 2011, we invite you to this exciting world premiere of the Steelroots sculpture series by artist Steve Tobin.

Steelroots will be set amid the enchanting backdrop of the 22-acre Conifer Collection. Several of Tobin’s works also will be featured near the Visitor Center.

The Steelroots exhibition showcases 15 featured sculptures comprised of massive rolled and bent steel pipes that soar up to 40 feet high. The Arboretum will display additional, dazzling works in various media.

Currently, he has a single sculpture, which is pictured above, located at the south end of North Pond. These sculptures are certainly interesting, and he does a lot of cool work – which you can check out on his website. They certainly make for some unique photography compositions.

Wednesday, November 18th - The Fire Is Out

Chicago Fire vs. Real Salt Lake - 11/14/09

A heartbreaking loss on Saturday night in the Eastern Conference Finals for the Chicago Fire. Everything about the night was perfect, except for the score. There were burgers, fajitas, fireworks and road flares.

Whatcha Lookin' At?

I spent some time walking around the zoo this past weekend. Snapped a few photos of monkeys, cheetahs, sea lions and human violinists.

Wednesday, November 18th - North Pond

North Pond - 11/15/09

I wandered through the parks surrounding North Pond on Sunday. Given the potential to be one of the last nice weekend days of the fall, I decided to take advantage. Most of the leaves were gone, and most leaves that remained didn’t have the vibrant colors of a few weeks prior. Regardless – always fun to snap some photos outdoors. I don’t take too many photos of animals, but this was a pretty fun walk.
